Shy Guy Danny

A heart warming tale. This is the story of Danny aka Listen Danny as told by his family.

“About 3 years ago we visited the Trust and were introduced to Danny, a quiet and shy character, but the minute he gently leant on us we knew he was the one.

When he came home we found out just how shy and nervous he was, he spent most of his first year with us in our study, only venturing out for food and walks. Some lady companions started to bring him out of his shell, teaching him some bravery and the pleasure to be had from toys, and he gradually started to move towards the sitting room to be with them and finally realised that a sofa was the greyhound’s natural habitat! A year ago his latest companion Liaka arrived. Having had to leave her previous home she was initially nervous about whether she would be staying but it was obvious there was a strong bouncy character underneath. As she settled, Liaka completed the work started by her predecessors. Today you would not recognise Danny for the dog who first arrived here – the sofa is definitely his and he has no qualms about calling you over there to make a fuss of him, we can pass children when out without crossing the road, he stays in the room instead of running when our sons appear and plays with toys as well as collecting them. We love then both to bits.

It would have been so easy to go home with a confident bouncy greyhound, but we are so glad we took Danny, he just needed the quiet space and time we could give him, and some encouragement from female companions.

Thank you again for introducing us to Danny – and of course Meadow (who is still hugely missed) and Liaka.”

It is us who should thank Danny’s family. Not only did they give Danny a wonderful, loving and understanding home but they also gave both Meadow and Liaka a home after their respective owners sadly passed away. They also took a pair of older girls from Clarkes Farm who like Meadow have crossed the bridge.
