Meet our new arrival Magnus. Lovely boy, read all about him on our Homeless hounds page.
We can hardly believe we are having to write this. Our friend and Volunteer Angie has had to have her dear Alex put to sleep today after she was diagnosed with cancer.
This comes barely 6 weeks after Angie had to say goodbye to Alex’s brother Troy. It’s tragic and our hearts go out to her.
Alex was a sweet natured girl, not quite as outgoing as Troy and while he attended many shows and events Alex much preferred the comfort of her own home and family. Alex and Troy were so close and Alex would wash Troy’s ears for him. The only comfort to be had is that these two beautiful babies are back in each others arms and are reunited with their Dad Johnnie who absolutely adored them both, they were a great source of comfort to him when he was so gravely ill.
Dear Angie what can we say? We are truly sorry for your losses but your beautiful hounds could not have been more loved by you and we thank you for the wonderful life you gave them. xx
It was Queenie’s turn for a second chance of happiness when she went home today. Everything crossed for you this time sweetheart, we will miss your happy little face.xx
It is with much sadness we have to tell you that Lucky one of our longest serving Greyhound Ambassadors has passed away. Dear Lucky was such a sweet boy who worked tirelessly at shows and meet and greet sessions to promote greyhounds as pets. Lucky was also a Pets as Therapy dog who along with his best friend Flossy regularly visited local care homes. Below is his family’s tribute to him.
Our first greyhound and we could not have wished for a more loyal, loving and sweet companion. Although very upset we feel so very fortunate to have had this sweet lad share his life with us and for him to live to a good age. Sleep tight sweetheart. xx
Our hearts go out to Bryan, Gill and Flossy, they are very much in our thoughts.
May you always shine high and bright in the sky Lucky like the star that you were. You were a true Gentleman of a dog and we will all miss you so much.xxx
Lucky June 1st 2008 to June1st 2020
Good luck to Charlie and Becky who both went to their forever homes this weekend. Charlie has gone home with our friend and Volunteer Angie who lost her dear Troy just weeks ago. Troy’s Sister Alex had been so down since losing Troy but perked up no end when she met Charlie. Becky is going to join the country set! She is going to have a garden with acres of space and lots of country walks. Much love to them both xx
We have seven new dogs appearing on our website this week. 2 have been reserved already!
Today we said farewell to Pebbles and John as they went off to their forever homes. We wish them all the very best. xx
We couldn’t be more pleased to be able to tell you Billy and Cairns have been given another chance of happiness. They went home today after meeting their new family.
Absolutely over the moon for this lovely pair.
We have everything crossed for you this time boys. XXX
Meet Becky (Racing name Bulmers Enigma). A beautiful dark brindle girl with wayward ears and a tail that doesn’t stop wagging.
Remember best friends Billy and Cairns? They were sadly brought to us after their owner died and following a fantastic response to our appeal for a home for them the boys went briefly to a new home. The new owner said they were perfect, clean in the house, loving, gentle, not fazed by other dogs of any size and both walked beautifully on their leads. However after their owner returned to work the boys didn’t cope well with being left for more than a couple of hours. In light of this we are now looking for a home for them where their new family are around most of the day and are happy to work with them to build up the amount of time they are able to be left. We must stress the boys were not badly behaved when left, just stressed. This pair really are fabulous dogs and we long to find the perfect home for them together, we will never separate them.
