An update from Alfie

I don’t know if I was dreaming this or if I really heard my Uncle Jeff say “Alfie only has one more sleep before he has a visit from the family who might like to take him home” One more sleep!  I can’t sleep!  Somebody brush my coat, get me a smart collar, give me a pedicure, anything that will make me more handsome.  I am so excited .  Please let it be true and not just a dream.  Fingers crossed for me please my lovely friends.

Love Alfie xx

Alfie’s Story (in his own words)

My name is Alfie.  I am an eight year old black greyhound who has been in a home since December 2010. I wasn’t a very good racer so after just 12 races it was time for me to look for a home.  Within two months I was chosen by a lovely family.  Then after five and a half splendid years in a home of my own, my owners became ill and couldn’t look after me anymore, so I was returned to kennels at the end of may amidst much heartbreak.

I am well looked after here at Dillymore – I have a comfy bed, plenty of food and I can play in the paddocks everyday, but I don’t feel like playing because after so long in a home all I want is is a human of my own.  I suppose I am a bit depressed without my own people to look after me.  The people here give me as much love and attention as they can, but it’s not the same and I crave more love.

I am a good boy, a very faithful greyhound and I know how to behave in a home.  I am doing my best to stay positive but it is hard sometimes.   My greatest wish is that I find some special humans soon.

Thanks for reading my story, please share it with anybody you think might be able to help.

Love Alfie.

Lee and Moody go to a tea party

Kennel dogs Lee and Moody had a fabulous time at Gladwells of Copdock today when they joined several other breeds of dogs and their owners for a doggy tea party.
Both behaved extremely well and thoughtfully shared the big bags of treats they were given with their kennel mates back at Dillymore.

Lee gets a glowing report

Would you like to know a little more about Lee?  He has had a glowing report from his foster Mum who looked after him while he recovered from his ‘Man op’  Do take a look at him and read all about it on our Homeless Hounds page. Lee is now back at Dillymore just waiting for that special someone to take him home.

Suffolk Show (Day 2)

AnotaIMG_6014a - Copy (Large)her cold day at the Suffolk Show – in previous years we had packed sunglasses and sunscreen, this year was all about layers, hot chocolate and preventing things from blowing around in the wind. It didn’t stop kennel dogs Steel and Kat from having a fantastic day out though! They were both very well behaved all day, lapping up attention and enjoying meeting humans and other dogs alike.

Below – here’s Steel relaxing and enjoying all the attention that a handsome, laid back boy deserves. He was a little overwhelmed at the start of the day but soon relaxed.

Let’s hope that Steel and Kat’s efforts find them homes, along with many homes for their friends in kennels.

Suffolk Show (Day 1)

Well it was a miserable day weather wise for the first day of the Suffolk show, but that didn’t dampen our spirits.  We had lots of visitors and met friends old and new.  We even did a spot of dog sitting.  Phantom and Lulu made themselves so comfy on the stand they decided their owners could go off and enjoy a few hours at the show without them.  Jan the kennel dog proudly wore her please adopt me coat and after a shy start soon got into the swing of things.  If you are visiting the show tomorrow do come and say hello we are on 11th Avenue.

Greyhound Extravaganza

On Sunday kennel dogs Bonnie and Steel went to the greyhound extravaganza held at the Animal Health Trust Newmarket.  They had a great time meeting lots of other dogs as well as families.  Both were really well behaved, traveled well and walked nicely on their leads.
