Home Time

The last few days have seen Dexter, Betty and Joker all go off to their forever homes.  Good luck guys you go with much love from us all. We  hope to see you at one of our walks or shows.

Moody’s lucky day

At last!  It’s the moment we have all been waiting for.  Moody our longest stayer has finally been reserved.  We are so happy for this lovely lad and have everything crossed that the home check will be fine.  It was his calm nature and good boy walking on his lead that did it.

It was a good afternoon at kennels today as the lovely Rockie was also reserved pending his home check.

Huge thanks to Sharon and Mike for leading a gorgeously sunny September walk with 43 dogs (40 greyhounds we think!). Thanks to all who came along – it was especially lovely to see so many of our recently homed greyhounds enjoying their retirement. Kennel dog Claire had a lovely day out and behaved very well too.

Final count up

We have now counted all of the money kindly donated by John Wolton and his family and friends.  John opted for money for the greyhounds in lieu of presents on the occasion of his 50th birthday.  The total amount raised was an amazing £410.68. A big thank you to John and his family and friends.
We are grateful to all of our supporters for their contributions whether they be monetary donations, cake making, time giving,  arranging events for us or attending our walks and shows to help us promote greyhounds.  We couldn’t do what we do without you.  Thank you all very much indeed.

Henham Steam Rally

All of the homeless hounds had a trip out again this weekend. We went to the Henham Steam Rally.  We were helped by our new volunteers.  Welcome to the team Craig, Julie, Mathew, Hannah, Tony, Di, Chris and John.  The hounds were thoroughly spoiled by the lovely couple in the stand next door with bags full of lovely treats.  Thank you.

Fingers crossed everybody for our long term resident Moody.  He has visitors on Friday morning. Moody has waited all year for somebody to ask to meet him. Good luck Moody.

Update 24/9/16  Sadly it was not to be Moody’s day.  Moody had another viewer today but again he didn’t show the real Moody we all know and love.  Maybe he is just a bit shy when he goes for a walk around the grounds with new people? One of us might have to go with him for moral support next time.  We do hope he gets the chance he so richly deserves.

John’s Birthday Party

Wow! What generous supporters we have. This afternoon the retired dogs have been to John Walton’s fiftieth birthday party / fete. John asked his guests for donations to Greyhound Homer instead of presents for himself. What a lovely gesture. We all had a great time. Thank you so much John for inviting us.

A gathering

Tattingstone and Bentley Fetes

We a busy weekend this weekend. Over the two days all of our kennel dogs available for homing had a day out. On Saturday Joker, Dexter, Betty and Jacob went to the Tattingstone fete and on Sunday Claire, Moody, Rocky and Davey went to the Bentley fete and fun dog show. Claire came 3rd in the prettiest bitch. Our thanks go to Julie who kindly offered to judge the show for us and the organisers of both fetes for inviting us and for the hard work they put in to making the fetes a success.

Mumbas Vieri (Baz)

Mumbas Vieri (Baz).
It is with heavy hearts that we have to tell you Baz died yesterday after contracting a severe gastric infection.
Baz was a loyal and affectionate boy who had been a great comfort to his family following a sudden bereavement. His time in a loving family home was short, he only went home in May but the joy he brought to his family’s lives and the love he gave them during their darkest hours will surely live in their hearts forever. Our thoughts are with them.
Run free at the bridge dear Baz and sleep soundly in the arms of those who have gone before you.
