Born in May 2021 Sam (Rentfrew Lad) is a lovely brindle boy who is very friendly and wags his tail a lot. Although he has only just arrived he has settled in well and joined us on our January walk.
Update 29/01/26 We have had some great feedback from Sam’s volunteer who walked him on our January walk.
“I had the pleasure of taking new arrival Sam to the monthly walk in Clare. Sam was a delight to spend time with and he travelled very well in the car with fellow kennel hound Jadie. He particularly liked when the window was open, smelling all the curious scents from the countryside around us! On the walk Sam was quite strong on the lead, however during times when the greyhounds in front of us were out of sight, he calmed right down. I think he probably just wants to be at the front of the pack and the excitement of being around all the other greyhounds – he just isn’t used to these sorts of walks so I definitely think this will improve in time. He revelled in all the well deserved attention he got after the walk – Sam really is such a handsome boy and I’m sure he won’t be waiting long for his forever home.
Update 22/02/26 Sam joined us on our monthly walk. He was again quite strong on his lead until he was at the front of the pack, he then calmed down and walked well once he was in the lead.
Update 04/04/26 Sam joined us at the Newmarket Racing Museum for their Easter event. He travelled well in the car, settled really well despite long traffic delays. He was interested in everything and everyone but was so well behaved. Excited to start with as before but with a bit of guidance he quickly learned what was expected of him He was great with small dogs and he adored all of the cuddles he received.
Update 01/09/26 Unfortunately after a short spell in a home Sam has been returned. We feel he would benefit from an adult only home. Sam has settled back in to kennel life and recently joined us on our annual picnic where although a bit excited and strong on his lead to start with he soon relaxed in about 15 minutes and walked nicely. He showed no reaction to any other dogs big or small who he met. In fact Sam has lived with a much smaller dog than himself and was fine.
Update Sam spent time with his Volunteer at the weekend and enjoyed a lovely stroll around the grounds. He settled very quickly and walked nicely. His favourite part of the walk was having plenty of sausages!
