Well, here we are at the end of another month and today we had a trot around the lovely town of Hadleigh.
As the number of volunteers grows within the Suffolk Greyhound Trust, we were fortunate to introduce to you many of our newest recruits.
Our new stars in the spotlight today, identified by their muzzle colours were Major (yellow), Barry (purple). Billy (green), Twix (red) and JP (blue), ably assisted by our more experienced crew of Fergie (lime green), Ken (dark green), Tommy (white) and Timmy (orange).
Fabulous to see some of our recently homed hounds and their families joining our walks and as always it’s a pleasure to see our old friends and their families.
Now we’ve often said, as Volunteers, we absolutely love our role, and are extremely privileged, but sometimes, something a little extra special happens, which absolutely sums up why it is so important to give these wonderful dogs a platform to showcase how special they are.
Nearing the end of our walk, we chanced upon the gorgeous “Paulette” riding along the path. In that split moment, Paulette was surrounded by soft muzzles, kind eyes and burrowing heads, all wanting to give and receive love to/from her.
In that very special moment, Paulette and JP locked eyes and he just rested his head on her lap and neither wanted the spell to be broken. All of us were clearly affected by this beautiful moment, but none more so than Paulette, who once composed, thanked us and especially JP for “making my day”.
Such is the impact our fantastic dogs have, the ability to brighten someone’s day, to soothe and comfort and to give that unconditional love. And as we headed for our final port of call, “The George” to enable all to have some liquid refreshment (water for all of course), why would you not? we run into the Minister of the United Reform Church here in Hadleigh, who was also suitably delighted to have chanced upon us and bestowed hugs and cuddles to all our canine friends. Quite a day!
