Phew… what a scorcher, but a fantastic day with The Dog Squad in Ipswich on Saturday and thanks so much for inviting us.
Bouncing Billy as he is known at the kennels, (as he greets you with a bounce when he first comes out of his kennel) was our Ambassador Dog for the day and he didn’t let us down. Billy took the day in his stride, tail wagging and met young and old alike and reveled in the hugs and cuddles he had, especially from the younger visitors to the event. Although still relatively new to this schmoozing thing, you wouldn’t have known… calm, gentle and so very well behaved, even when having a snooze under the table, he opened his eyes to see about 20 dogs race before him, all off lead, he didn’t flinch an inch….. what a brilliant boy.
Here is a picture of Billy with our volunteer Richard, who commented that he walks well on the lead and happy to mingle with the crowd. We will look forward to Billy joining us on further events. He was a pleasure to have with us and we all love him.
We must stress that Billy was in the shade for much of the day, had visits to the dog misting station, met the public in small time slots and had copious amounts of water at all times.
Despite the terrible weather forecast for the Monks Eleigh Fete on Saturday the weather was reasonably kind.
The fete was a great success with lots of Greyhounds in attendance. Not just our Ambassadors who did an excellent job as always but Kennel dogs Fly, Sport, Ronnie and Mac came along and they took it all in their stride, their behavior was exemplary.
Many thanks to our Volunteers old and new for manning the stand and sending photos. A special thank you to Volunteer Bryan who did a sterling job giving a talk on the hounds in the parade ring.
Today we attended the Royal British Legion 80th D-Day commemorations in Woodbridge.

This weekend we attended the Monks Eleigh village fete and fun dog show.
The weather was kind and a good time was had by all. Our Ambassadors Jessica, Arthur, Charlie and Bob gave another excellent performance showing everyone what great pets Greyhounds make.
Kennel dog Bear came along and was an absolute super star, happy to have a fuss from everyone he met, in fact he demanded it. Bear also came fourth in the handsome dog competition. Well done Bear, obviously you will always win first place in our hearts.
Just a quick reminder we will be at the Monks Eleigh fete on Saturday, Recreation Ground, Church Hill, Monks Eleigh IP7 7JL. The classes for the Dog Show are as follows:-

The fete runs from 1pm until 5pm

We have a couple of events planned for June. On the 1st we are at the Monks Eleigh Fete where there is always a warm welcome, something for everyone and a fun dog show with numerous classes.
On the 8th we are in Woodbridge for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. There will be music in the band stand, Classic cars, Re enactors and so much more.

Well done to our Volunteers and our wonderful Greyhound Ambassadors Charlie, Des, Jessica, Arthur. Martha, Toby and Whisp for braving the heat this afternoon at the Fete in Felixstowe. Volunteers Bryan and Gill had a great time dancing to some Rock and Roll music.
Fingers crossed our Ambassadors have inspired some to consider a Greyhound as a pet.
